Advanced Material Exchange only supports the following structural element types:
- Abaqus: C3D4, C3D8, C3D8R, C3D10, C3D10M, S3, S4, and S4R
- ANSYS: 181, 185, 187, 285
If you attempt to import a model that contains an unsupported element, you will see the following error:
This error can also appear if the number of section points through the thickness of the S3, S4, or S4R elements is not equal to five. Five section points through the thickness is the default value for these shell elements and is required by Advanced Material Exchange.
ANSYS MESH200
ANSYS MESH200 elements are not supported by Advanced Material Exchange. You will need to convert the MESH200 elements to a supported element type. For MESH200, KEYOPT(1) defines the element formulation. Refer to the following list of KEYOPT(1) values to understand which supported element type to convert too:
- KEYOPT(1) = 6 → SHELL181
- KEYOPT(1) = 8 → SOLID285
- KEYOPT(1) = 9 → SOLID187
- KEYOPT(1) = 10 → SOLID185
