This ReadMe highlights important updates and known issues for the latest release of
Helius Composite.

Hotfix Updates
This section contains a list of issues addressed in the
Helius Composite Hotifix.
- The Tube/Beam Bending tool was updated and now properly recognizes the beam length.
- The Laminate Survey tool in the Utilities Module was updated to address a crash error upon selection of the MCT failure criterion.
- The Create New Material Library tool was updated to address a crash error when saving the new library.
- The Max Stress and Max Strain failure criterion were fixed. In the previous version, the two failure criteria were improperly switched.
- Helius Composite was updated to properly account for the comma and decimal when the German region and language settings were used. This issue was known to affect the following tools:
- Progressive Failure results and plotting
- Plate Stability
- The default coupling was updated to properly default to Non-Zero coupling.
- Helius Composite was updated to properly handle missing names. This error was known to affect the following tools:
- Winding Calculator
- Optimize Lamina for MCT
- Laminate Properties
- The Report Module was updated to address a crash error and to properly display the "Prepared By" entry in the report.
- The Laminate Engineering Properties tool was updated to address an issue with material properties not updating immediately when switching between different laminates.
- The Plate Module was updated and now properly displays length and width for the dynamic display of the geometry.
- The Plate Geometry tab was updated and now allows users to navigate the dialog with the Tab key on the keyboard. In addition, the default dimensions of length and width were removed.
- The Import Directory tool was updated and now properly imports metal materials.
- A warning was added when you attempt to delete material that is open in multiple instances of the product.
- The Fabric Builder utility was updated and now navigates properly between pages for creation of stitched fabrics.
- A memory corruption issue was addressed. This error was known to cause crashes with the following tools:
- Laminate Module
- Bolted Connection
- Plate Module
- Sandwich Module
- Tube/Beam Module
- The Bolted Connection Module was updated with improved warning and error messaging for small E/D and W/D ratios.
- The Import Directory tool was updated with improved warning messages following an unsuccessful import.
- The Global/Local Stress/Strain tool was updated and now properly displays results for all plies in a laminate.
- The Plate Stability tool was updated for the Uniaxial Compression - SSSS load case. Previously the number of iterations (mmax) for this load case would never exceed 1.
- The Cylinder Stability tool was updated for the Axial Compression + External Pressure load case. The calculation for Rc + Rlp and Rc + Rhp have been corrected. All other values will remain unchanged.
Known Issues
This list identifies known issues in the latest release of
Helius Composite and any known workarounds to these issues.
- If the system display settings are set to Medium (125%) or Larger (150%), certain features in
Helius Composite may be partially cutoff. This behavior is known to exist in the Bolted Connection and Failure Envelope modules. These display issues can be avoided by following these steps:
- From the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel > Display
- Select the default Smaller (100%) display setting
- Click Apply (you may be forced to log off and log on again)
