Prefix configuration

The automatic prefixes for single part and assembly numbering can be configured based on the model role.

You can set different profiles for different jobs. The profile to be used in the numbering should be set as current.

The prefix profiles are grouped according to the elements for which are defined (Beams, Plates, Folded plates, Special parts).

The prefixes profiles are separated into two main groups.

To access the command

Ribbon: Output > Part Marks:

Command line: _AstM5PrefixConfigurationExplorer

To use a prefix profile

  1. Output tab, Part marks panel: Click . The Prefix configuration window appears.
  2. Select Use prefix.
  3. On the left side of the window, right click the required profile and select Set as current profile from the menu.

To create a new profile

  1. Output tab, Part marks panel: Click . The Prefix configuration window appears.
  2. Select Use prefix.
  3. Select the User category.
  4. Click New or right click and select New profile from the context menu.
  5. In the New profile dialog box enter the profile name.
  6. Click OK.



To copy a category to another prefix profile

  1. In the Prefix configuration window, from the Advance group, select the category to move to another prefix profile.
  2. Click .
  3. In the Select targe t dialog box, select the group in which to move the selected category.
  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Copy data to profile dialog box select a prefix profile from the drop-down list.



To configure a new prefix profile

For a new prefix profile it is possible to define prefixes for each object profile. Add a new object type in the selected profile, then define the prefixes.

Define the object types in the selected profile (new profile)

  1. In the Prefix configuration window, select the prefix profile to configure.
  2. Right click and select New from the context menu.
  3. In the New prefix dialog box select the objects for which the prefix are set. This selection acts like a filter for the objects from the 3D model.
    • Select the object type (Beam, Plate, Bolt, etc.).
    • Select the model role within the structure.
    • If the object type is Beam, select the profile subtype.
  4. Click OK.

To delete a prefix profile

  1. In the Prefix configuration window, select the prefix profile to delete.
  2. Click .
  3. Confirm by clicking Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
