To Combine License Files

Create a license file that allows multiple products to run on the same network.

To combine licenses, you must have an existing license file and have one or more new license files from Autodesk. After you create the combined license file, stop and restart each server that uses it so that the server reads the new file. For Windows servers, the LMTOOLS utility has a command for rereading a license file without stopping the server. However, it is more reliable to stop and restart the server.

  1. Make a backup copy of your existing license file before you begin editing. If there is a problem with the combined license file, you can revert to the original until you resolve the issue.
  2. Examine the license files you want to combine to ensure that the top lines are identical, from SERVER to VENDOR. The following example shows the applicable lines for a single-server model:
    SERVER XXHP0528 0019bbd68993
    USE_SERVER
    VENDOR adskflex port=2080
  3. Open the existing license file in Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac OS).
  4. Open the newly issued license file and copy everything, including the PACKAGE section for subscription products, to the clipboard. In the text editor, paste the clipboard contents at the end of the existing license file.
  5. Keep pasting license information into the existing license file for all license files you want to combine.
  6. Save the existing license file.
