Drawing Settings: Styles: Drawing Style

Any changes that you make to existing entities will be reflected in any objects that use them and in general, grips obey the style of the parent object with which they are associated. For example, if you hide Road Edge Lines, then the corresponding road edge line grips will also disappear.

The Name of the style should briefly describe its function or format. Add more details to the Description and Notes fields.

Entities can be placed on different layers (levels in MicroStation) and the Base Layer Name field is used to define text that prefixes the layer or level number. Use the # character to represent the junction number.

For each applicable entity, you can use toggle controls in the Options column to switch it on/off, define it as a construction line, and set it to display while dragging.

Use the Color and Weight columns to configure the line's appearance.

Use the Layer column if you want an entity to display on a different layer than the rest. Enter the name in the Layer column. You can use the # character in the layer name to represent the junction number, and if you prefix the name with a + it will append to the Base Layer Name. So, a base layer name of JTN# and style layer name of +SUBLAYER would put the entity on a layer called JTN1SUBLAYER.

Use the Line Type column to select either a Continuous line or a pattern. If using a pattern, you can further define a Line Type Scale, Hatch Angle, and Hatch Spacing in drawing units.

Along the bottom of the dialog, you can use the Default Layer Settings button to define the settings for the user-defined layers/Levels if they have to be created. You can also select Grouped Display to display the styles with parent groupings, making them easier to locate.
