To Change the Turn Transition Types

  1. Select the path that you want to edit.
  2. On the Autodesk Vehicle Tracking toolbar, click Properties, or click Vehicle Tracking menu Properties.

    The Path Properties dialog is displayed.

  3. Click the Maneuvers tab.
  4. Highlight the required maneuver and click Edit.

    The Maneuver Details dialog is displayed.

  5. Click the Transitions tab.
  6. Select Limit Forward Turn Rate or Limit Reverse Turn Rate to restrict the rate of application of steering lock when travelling forwards and backwards respectively.
  7. Choose the turn transition type:
    • Based Upon Speed imposes a turn rate that causes the overturn to increase with speed. The turn rate (degrees per unit of distance) will be calculated as follows:

      R = A/Vt

    • Based Upon Lock To Lock Distance imposes a limit that is fixed for all speeds. The turn rate is calculated as follows:

      R = A/d

      where

      R is maximum turn rate

      A is maximum steering angle

      V is design speed

      t is lock-to-lock time

      d is lock-to-lock distance

    • Based Upon Circular Tangential Arc follows a pure circular arc. This option is only available for forward turns.
  8. Depending on direction of travel, select Turn On The Spot At Start Of All Forward Sections or Turn On The Spot At Start Of All Reverse Sections to turn the steering instantaneously at each change of angle.
  9. Select Set Optimum Steering Angle At Start Of Path to allow the steering to turn to the best starting angle at the beginning of the path. Note that this option always applies to the start point, regardless of which target point is currently being examined.
