To Create a Pipe Network From Imported GIS Data

You can create a pipe network by importing GIS data from a SHP file.

Using the Import GIS Data wizard, you connect to the SHP data file, specify object properties, specify the schema and coordinate system, map the GIS feature attributes to object properties, define the geospatial query parameters, and then specify options for cleaning up the data.

  1. Click Insert tabImport panelImport GIS Data Find. The Import GIS Data wizard is displayed.
  2. On the Connect to Data page, browse to either a single SHP file or to a folder that contains multiple SHP files. Click Next.
  3. On the Object Options page, specify the pipe network properties. Click Next.
  4. On the Schema and Coordinates page, specify the GIS feature attributes. Click Next.
  5. On the Data Mapping: Pipes page, specify the pipe feature classes to be imported, and assign the corresponding AutoCAD Civil 3D properties. Click Next.
  6. On the Data Mapping: Structures page, specify the structure feature classes to be imported, and assign the corresponding AutoCAD Civil 3D properties. Click Next.
  7. On the Query Options page, filter the imported GIS data to a specified area in the current drawing. Click Next.
  8. On the Clean Up page, specify the cleanup options for disconnected pipes and structures.
