There are several ways to specify the language of your products:
- Language drop-down menu. Some products, such as AutoCAD, let you choose a language from the Product Language drop-down menu in the installer. If the language you want is not in this menu, your options vary by product.
- Language packs. Other products, such as Inventor, use language packs to support additional languages.
- Language exchange. Another alternative for subscription customers is to obtain a language exchange.
Note: Some products supply language modules on separate media. You specify the product language at the time of purchase, and you cannot change it. Other products, such as Revit 2016, provide built-in support for all available languages.
Installer's Language Menu
If you select a language at installation time, consider the following:
- Each suite installation uses a single language. To specify a different language for one or more suite products, install them separately, in another installation.
- Not all products in a suite support every language. If you select a language that some suite products don't support, those products use a default language.
- The menu for languages or language packs is disabled after you leave the Product Information page of the installer. If you later decide to change the language or add a language pack, cancel the installation. Then restart the installer, and make the correct language selection on the Product Information page.
Language Packs
A language pack is a software module that changes the language of the user interface and the documentation. With a language pack, a single installed product can support several languages. You can then switch from one language to another.
Depending on your product, language packs may be available on the installation media or from the downloads website.
To use a language pack, follow these general steps:
- Download the language pack if you don't already have it on physical media.
- Install the language pack.
- Add the language pack when you install your Autodesk product.
For each language pack you install, there is a shortcut in the Windows Start menu, such as "Inventor - French (Francais)."
You can use the Windows Control panel to uninstall language packs without uninstalling the product. You can't uninstall the default language of the product you installed.
Language Exchange (Subscription Customers)
Subscription customers can exchange a product for one that runs in a different language. The language exchange is free. However, you can use the product only in the country in which you registered your license.
If you upgrade to a new product release, follow these general steps:
- Upgrade in the original language.
- Obtain a free language exchange again.
