Converting a Factory Floor into a Solid slab

You can convert the floor of a new factory floor layout, or an existing factory layout, into a solid slab using the Create Solid Floor command. This function is particularly useful when you wish to create a 2D section view in your factory floor drawing that includes a dimension of the floor thickness.

The solid floor defaults to a thickness of 200 millimeters when using a metric assembly template, and 8 inches for a template using Imperial units. Use the Thickness setting in the Floor/Grid Settings dialog box to change the floor thickness to a different value.

Note: The factory floor is automatically converted to a solid when placing a pit or platform asset from the System Assets library.

The floor of a new factory layout, or of an existing layout, can be converted into a solid slab using the following procedure:

  1. Start by creating a new layout or opening an existing factory floor layout.
  2. On the ribbon, click Factory tab Layout panel Create Solid Floor. The floor is converted into a solid slab.
  3. Use the Thickness setting in the Floor Settings section at the top of the Floor/Grid Settings dialog box to change the floor thickness to a different value. This value may be changed at any time.
Note: The thickness of the solid floor is created in either metric or Imperial units, depending on the assembly template in use.
