You can manage floor and grid settings using the Floor/Grid Settings dialog box. The Floor/Grid Settings dialog box contains two groups of settings. The Floor Settings control the size and appearance of the floor. The Grid Settings control the spacing and appearance of the grid. The floor size settings control the overall grid size, even if the floor display is turned off.
The preference settings only affect the current document. Settings such as floor size and grid spacing can vary depending on whether you are designing a work cell or an entire factory. For example, you would want a small section of floor for designing a work cell. The floor size usually matches the building for laying out an entire factory. If you change the settings in the template, all new documents use those settings. For existing documents, you have to change the settings in each document if you want the new behavior.
By default, the floor is specified as visible in a new factory layout. It is set to resize automatically once components are moved outside the default boundary. You can control the floor color and whether a border displays.
The Minor Grid Spacing controls the distance between grid lines. By default, every other grid line is displayed as a major grid line. You can enter an integer from 1 through 512 to change the frequency of the Major grid lines.
After making changes to the floor settings, floor style, grid settings, or grid style, click the Make Default button to store your changes for all subsequent factory layout sessions.
You can still make changes to the floor and grid settings after clicking the Make Default button. If you want to return to the settings stored under Make Default, click the Restore Defaults button.
