Section Planes

A section plane creates a cut view of the participating components along the plane with the specified depth of cut.

Types of Section Planes

• Section Top - Creates a section cut on the top orientation of the model.
• Section Front - Creates a section cut on the front orientation of the model.
• Section Right - Creates a section cut on the right orientation of the model.
• Section Face - Creates a section cut on the selected face of the model.
• Section Three Quarter - Creates a section cut by selecting an edge, circle, or segment.

Tip: Select a section plane to get an option to flip the direction of section cut.

Note: The different orientations of the section planes correspond to the respective orientation of the ViewCube.

Create different section planes

Edit Section Plane

There are different workflows to edit a section plane. Each section plane is represented in the browser under a unique section group. Right-click on a section group has a context menu with all the edit options.

• Edit - Edits the section depth using the triad.
• Flip - Flips switches the direction of the section cut.
• Add Plane - Adds multiple section planes to an existing section group.
• Redefine Components - Manually select the components that participate in a section plane.
• Clear Components - No component participates in the section plane. The section plane however is not deleted.
• All Components - All components participate in the section plane.
