3D fiber accuracy improvements

Improvements have been made to the 3D fiber capabilities.

Along with general solver improvements the following capabilities have been added.

3D fiber inlet options are now available from the Fiber Solver Parameters dialog. There is now the option to define the fiber orientation profile at the inlet. The options available now are outlined below.
  • Fibers aligned at skin / random at the core
  • Fibers aligned at skin / transverse at core
  • User-supplied inlet orientation

Fiber inlet calculation starting point

The default for fiber orientation is to start the calculations at the gate. In this scenario it is assumed that the orientation will remain constant along the runner up to the gate. If change of orientation within the runner system is suspected, the Injection Location option can be used to investigate the impact the runner system has on fiber orientation by placing the injection location at the start of the runner system.

3D RSC fiber orientation model

Significant efforts have resulted in more accurate fiber orientation predictions. This is particularly evident in the core of the part in both the cross-flow and thickness directions.
