3D Automatic injection time

Improvements have been made to the Automatic injection time calculation for 3D analyses.

The option exists in the Process Settings to automatically calculate the injection time for the filling stage. The value is generated using the part mesh, hot/cold runners and injection points with a simplified calculation of the filling stage. The resulting value is only a rough estimate of the injection time, but it provides a reasonable measure of scale for use during the filling stage. Once the analysis is complete, the value of the Automatic injection time (AIT) can be found in the Fill log under Filling control.

The performance of the Automatic injection time in the 3D code has been improved as exemplified in two ways:
  1. Increase in speed for the calculation
  2. Improvement in the calculation accuracy

As a result of this upgrade, you may see a noticeable difference in your results from previous releases, many models experiencing a variation in calculated time in the order of ±10%-15%.

Of particular note are results from injection compression and overmolding analyses, where the Automatic injection time is now determined with the mold, and results may differ by as much as 100% from previous releases:
