Baking is the common term for saving shading/lighting on objects in a scene. You can use the Texture Baking Settings window to bake illumination, shadows, shading, and textures to a file that can later be applied to other objects. For more information, see Bake textures with Turtle.
To bake color and illumination to a texture
in the
Shading shelf, or select (Windows > Material/Texture Baking Editors > Texture Baking View).
