In previous releases, the time step size during packing analyses is fixed at 0. 5 seconds. In specific cases for thin parts or for highly conductive materials, this time step size has been found to be too large and can lead to inaccurate results, most noticeably in a banding of the volumetric shrinkage results. A new packing time-step scheme has been implemented which may select a smaller time step size depending on a stability criteria based on the part thickness and thermal diffusivity. This change can increase the computation time for packing analyses in some cases.
