Exporting data to LS-DYNA from the command line

Note: This feature is only available on Windows systems.

The Autodesk Moldflow Insight to LS-DYNA interface requires the following:

  • A Midplane meshed model.
  • Results of a Fill+Pack + Warp analysis sequence, with Fiber results if a fiber-filled material is selected.
Note: Set the desired LS-DYNA interface options before launching the analysis.
  • A license to use the LS-DYNA Interface.

There are two parts to exporting data for input to LS-DYNA: running the mpi2dyn.vbs macro to create the necessary files, and locating the files and using them in LS-DYNA.

To run the mpi2dyn.vbs macro from the command line:

Note: The command line will look for scripts stored in the default directory, typically My Documents\My AMI 20xx Projects\commands\. If no script is found, it will look in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Moldflow Synergy 20xx\data\commands, where xxxx is the software release number.
  1. Click View tab > Windows panel > User Interface and then select Command Line.
  2. Enter mpi2dyn.
  3. Click Go. The script plays.

The API script saves the interface files in a folder created within the current project folder. For example, My Documents\My AMI 20xx Projects\Project1\<study_name>_interface_files, where xxxx is the software release number and <study_name> is the name of the study you are exporting to LS-DYNA.

Once the files are in that location, you can use them in LS-DYNA. Refer to your LS-DYNA manual or help system for instructions on how to import them and perform the LS-DYNA analysis.
