Meshing manually created cooling channels

Once you have created cooling channels, manually, they must be meshed.

  1. Click Generate mesh (Mesh tab > Mesh panel > Generate Mesh). The Generate Mesh dialog appears. Notice the Global edge length on surface is already defined. This is the global edge length that will be applied to the model and will probably not be appropriate for the cooling channel edge length.
  2. Click the Curves tab. The value entered for the Edge length vs. diameter for Circuits will be used to determine the cooling circuit edge length. The default value of 2.5 indicates an edge length 2.5 times longer than the diameter of the cooling channel.
  3. Click Mesh Now.
  4. Assign coolant inlets to the ends of the channels where necessary.
