Set up valve gate control by ram position

You can select to trigger the valve gate by ram position, either when creating a new valve gate controller, or by editing an existing valve gate controller.

1. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup tab > Process Settings) and select a Filling control option that includes a ram speed profile.

   

2. Click Edit profile and check enter appropriate values in the Filling Control Profile Settings dialog. These values must be consistent with the valve gate controller profile you will create later.
   
   
   Specifically, ensure that:

   • the values you enter in the table for the Ram position, are entered in order of decreasing value,
   • the Starting ram position values will be consistent with the valve gate control values you will set later, for example
     
     
3. Click OK to close the Filling Control Profile Settings dialog.
4. Click OK to close the Process Settings Wizard dialog.
5. Click (Boundary Conditions tab > Feed System panel > Valve Gate Controller > Create/Edit) to open the Create Valve Gate Controller dialog.
6. Either
   • Select an existing controller from the table and click View/Edit, or
   • Click New Valve Gate Controller.
7. In the Valve gate trigger drop-down menu, select Ram Position.
8. Enter appropriate values in the Valve gate open/close times table, and ensure that they are consistent with the values you entered in the Process Settings dialog earlier.
9. Click OK to close all the dialogs.
