Process controller dialog-Microcellular Control tab

The Microcellular Control tab of the Process controller dialog is used to define the inputs for a Microcellular injection molding analysis.

Dialog element Explanation
Bubble nucleation model

There are two models that can be used to calculate microcellular injection molding results:

Constant nucleation density model
This is the default model.
Fitted Classical Nucleation Model
To use this model, you will need to enter parameters specific to your foaming gas.
Number of cells per volume - Constant nucleation density model only

Enter a nucleation density value.

Initial gas amount
The amount of gas dissolved in the plastic contributes to the bubble density and bubble size. You can define this in terms of:
  • % weight
  • gas saturation pressure
Initial gas concentration

For the specific foaming gas that is dissolved in your melt, enter the percentage concentration in the melt at the beginning of the process.
