Summary of Known Issues
- If you are unable to generate solid meshing with Inventor models, turn on the Registry setting and try meshing again:
“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Autodesk Nastran In-CAD 2016\NEiCAD\Continuous Mesh Settings\Alternate Solid Mesh Recovery” – Value is 0 by default. Should be set to 1 to enable it.
- When Vault Add-in within Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Nastran In-CAD is checked, it is not possible to have the standard Vault check out workflow. Hence, you see a warning message: “This document is not checked out to you. You will need to check this file out before changes can be saved to Vault.”.
- In Plot dialog, Elemental Options are not fully implemented.
- Weld beads are not supported for meshing and selection in physical property for applying material.
- Mesh connectivity is not working for curve/arc meshing with line elements.
- Default mesh size is not changing when thin sheetmetal parts are selected for solid meshing.
- Helix/Spiral Spring/Composite Curve will not mesh by default when associated geometry is unchecked. Workaround: Check associated geometry and select the curves in order to mesh.
- Bars/Beam orientations are not exported to Nastran file based on the specified displacement coordinate system.
- In the Laminate dialog, the ABD matrix calculation is not working as expected.
- For non-English OS (ex. German), input values without the leading zero before a decimal point (ex: .25, .67 etc.) will not be saved once the dialog is closed and reopened, except for the Laminate dialog. It works fine if you use 0.25 and 0.67.
- For non-English OS (ex. German), the Digit Grouping Symbols (‘.’ and ‘,’) may have incompatibilities when both the “In-CAD” add-in and the “Drag and Drop Interoperability” add-in are active. Deactivating one or the other will allow the active add-in to behave properly for this functionality.
- For non-English OS (Korean) using In-CAD within SolidWorks:
- The contour images are not updated when generating a report.
- Node and Element Label display have been disabled in In-CAD for Inventor due to graphics performance issue. Display size and color for Node is currently not working.
- Remote Force Load only supports face selection as the entity where the force is applied.
- Right now you can select an edge as the entity in the Remote Force dialog to apply the load, but there is no warning that this is not supported until you hit OK.
- Right now you can select a vertex as the entity in the Remote Force dialog to apply the load, but there is no warning that this is not supported even after you hit OK. The analysis will solve, but the load will not be considered in the solution.
- Moment Load only supports face selection as the entity where the moment is applied.
- Right now you can select an edge or vertex as the entity in the Moment Load dialog, but there is no warning that this is not supported even after you hit OK. The analysis will solve for both cases, but the load will not be considered in the solution.
- The Undo and Redo functionality is currently blocked while working in the In-CAD environment.
- The Contour icon in the ribbon will remain depressed when switching between models and will not work correctly for other models. Workaround: Close and open the model or run the analysis again for the Active Document.
- File name having Unicode character fails to solve due to Nastran Unicode support limitation.
- Database models which have performance issue can be saved in the 2016 SAP version and then reopened for better performance.
- Dynamic display of loads and constraints glyphs has been removed due to some performance issue. Click the Preview checkbox in the Loads and Constraints dialogs to update the glyphs in the canvas.
- Display of glyphs for loads and constraints on the deformed model and for animations is disabled.
- Parts derived from an assembly cannot be meshed.
- The Stress/Strain output option in the Laminate dialog is not defined properly when Use Global Ply checkbox is selected.
- The Level of Detail (LOD) view representation is not supported with midsurface.
- Bearing Load as thrust load is not supported.
- Bottom Fiber Distance in Laminate dialog is not visible if the screen resolution is low.
