Moments can be applied to curves, surfaces, and vertices. It is important to note that applying moments to geometry entities associated with solid elements (tetrahedral elements – linear or parabolic) will not work. That is because solid elements do not support rotational degrees of freedom and therefore need alternative means of applying this type of condition. Hence, using an alternative method, Autodesk Nastran In-CAD now supports moment loads on solid element faces. You can select a solid element face and enter the magnitude based on the axis of rotation.
For moments there is no direction option. Moments are applied on a per entity basis. For example, applying a moment of a particular magnitude upon two surfaces will result in a total moment magnitude of two times the input magnitude.
Moments can have a variable load definition as well as custom display properties such as color, size, and density.
