Set up a Nonlinear Analysis

  1. Click Analysis Analysis Types. The Analysis Types dialog opens.
  2. Select a static nonlinear load case, and then click Parameters. The Nonlinear Analysis Parameters dialog opens.
  3. Specify the type of nonlinear analysis that you want to perform:
    • P-Delta to analyze second-order effects.
    • Large displacements to analyze third-order effects such as displacements and rotations.
Note: If you want to ignore the selected case during the calculations, select Auxiliary case.
  4. Click Parameters, and then specify the analysis method and parameters in the Nonlinear Analysis Algorithm Options dialog.
  5. Click OK twice to go back to the Analysis Type dialog. The analysis type is updated for the selected load case.
Tip: To set up parameters on a selection of load cases, enter a list of cases in the Case list box, and then click Set parameters.
