If you are responsible for installing or upgrading the software to a new release, learn about recent changes to the installation process.
Installation
- Base content pack: When you install the Revit software, a base content pack is installed. This pack contains project templates and family templates. These templates are localized for all supported languages, but they do not provide locale-specific modifications. This base content pack ensures that users can successfully launch the software and create projects. To install additional content, install the Revit Content Libraries and enable the content packs that correspond with the desired languages and locales. See Select Content for a Revit Installation.
- Multi-language user interface: You no longer need to install individual language packs after installing the software. Instead, the software provides built-in support for all supported languages. After installation, you can start the software in another language by launching a desktop shortcut. See About Languages for Revit and Use Revit in Other Languages.
- Application Manager applies service packs: The Service Pack section that was included in previous releases of the installer has been removed. After you install the Revit software, Application Manager launches and displays a list of available service packs. Select the service packs to apply to the installation. This behavior is different than in previous releases, where you specified the service packs to apply as part of the installation process.
Licensing
- In the Revit user interface, the Licensing sub-menu on the application menu has been removed. To access product license information for Revit, open the software, click

About Autodesk Revit, and click Product License Information.
Deployments
Note: Revit LT does not support deployments.
- Multi-language user interface: You no longer specify multiple language packs for a deployment. After installation, users can start the software in another language by launching a desktop shortcut. See About Languages for Revit and Use Revit in Other Languages.
- Service packs: In previous releases, you could specify the service packs to include when creating a deployment. In this release, if software updates are available for your Autodesk software at the time of deployment creation, an Add Updates button displays at the end of the workflow. When you click Add Updates, Application Manager launches and provides a list of available hot fixes, service packs, and other updates for your deployment. Click Add for each update that you want to install. See About Installing Software Updates.
