Note: The limiting gap ratio g/h applies, even if adjacent welds are on opposite sides of a narrow attachment (as in the case of a longitudinal stiffener with staggered fillet welds). Long gaps between intermittent fillet welds are not recommended. They increase the risk of corrosion and, in the case of compression members, sometimes cause local buckling. If intermediate gaps longer than 2.5h are required, reduce the class to F.
