To Set the Analysis Type for New Models
When you create a simulation model or import a CAD model for the first time, you are prompted to choose the analysis type. However, if you have previously set a default analysis type, this prompt does not appear. When the Choose Analysis Type dialog box displays:
- Click the arrow button (
), to see the list of available analysis types, and make your selection.
- If you wish to set the selected analysis type as the default choice for all new models, activate the Use as default analysis type checkbox. The Choose Analysis Type dialog box will no longer display for future models.
- Click OK (or New, if creating a model within Simulation Mechanical).
Tip: If you have set a default analysis type and later want to change it or restore the prompt, click

Analysis tab and do one of the following:
- Check the Ask each time option. This action restores the Choose Analysis Type prompt.
- Click Set Analysis Type and choose a different default analysis type for future models.
To Change the Analysis Type of Existing Simulation Models
After you have opened or created a model, you can use one of the following two methods to change the analysis type within the FEA Editor:
