Note: This page concerns both the
Save Image command and the
Export
Image command, which are equivalent.
Procedure
To capture an image of the entire model display area, or a portion of it, perform the following steps:
- Execute the Save Image or Export
Image command from one of the above-listed locations.
- Choose the capture area:
- Click and drag the mouse within the display canvas to define the image area.
- Alternatively, click anywhere within the display window and press <Enter> to automatically select the full display area.
- Navigate to the desired folder for saving your image files.
- Specify the type of file you want to create. The choices are:
- Windows bitmap (*.bmp)
- JPEG file interchange format (*.jpg)
- Tagged image file format (*.tif)
- Portable network graphics file (*.png)
- PC Paintbrush (*.pcx)
- Targa file (*.tga)
- Specify the Width and Height of the saved image.
- Type in the desired width and/or height values. You can also use the up and down arrows to adjust the values.
- The Lock checkbox, when activated, constrains the aspect ratio to match that of the specified capture area. When either the Width or Height value is changed, the other value is automatically calculated and updated. Deactivate the Lock checkbox to allow the created image file to have a different aspect ratio than the specified capture area. In this case, you must manually specify both values.
- Alternatively, choose a pre-defined size using the Preset drop-down menu. The choices include several common sizes in 16:9 (widescreen) and 4:3 aspect ratios, the Primary screen resolution, and User defined size. If you choose a pre-defined resolution, the Lock option is automatically deactivated.
- Specify a filename for the image file.
- Click Save to output the file.
- Alternatively, click Cancel or click the "X" in the upper right corner of the dialog box to abort the Save Image operation.
