Additional Command Information

To avoid cluttering the command topics with too much information, we have created this additional topic to provide a sort of expanded glossary. Use the information here if you need more details about certain commands. Please feel free to send in any SimStudio report requests to our team and we will continue to expand this topic to make SimStudio a user-friendly application.

Boolean Operation options

Choose the appropriate option for your geometry. Join, Cut, and Intersect are only available for solids.

  • Join adds material.
  • Cut removes material.
  • Intersect removes all material from the solid that does not overlap the new feature.
  • New Body creates a solid body in the active component.
  • New Component creates a child component in the active component.

Objects To Cut

Select options to recompute or maintain the current objects cut by the feature.

  • Auto-Select recomputes the bodies to cut based on the current visibility state.
  • # Bodies cuts the same bodies that were included when the cut operation was created.

The option is only active for edit operations.

When you create a cut operation, the bodies to affect are determined based on visibility. Bodies that are visible participate. Bodies that are not visible do not participate.

Extents

Use these options to specify feature distances.

  • Distance Use when you want to input a numerical value for the feature distance.
  • To Use when you want to terminate the feature at a face or plane.
  • All Use when you want the feature to pass through all geometry.
