Insert Edge
- T-Spline Edge
- Enables the selection of edges to insert from. Double-click an edge to select the edge loop.
- Insertion Mode
-
- Simple Does not move any other points, but likely changes the surface shape.
- Exact Adds points to maintain the exact surface shape.
- Insert Side
-
- Single Inserts on a single side of the selected edges.
- Both Inserts edges on both sides of the selected edges.
- Insert Location
- Specifies the position of the new edges using a decimal percentage.
- Object Snap
- Moves the new vertices to the closest point on objects in the scene. Vertices can snap to solid, surface, and mesh bodies.
- Offset
- Places the vertices a specified distance off the target body when Object Snap is enabled.
Tips
Simple insertion mode only inserts the selected number of edges but the shape of the body might change to maintain the number of edges.
Exact insertion mode maintains the shape of the body but adds edges to maintain that shape.
To minimize the impact on the existing body, use an Insert Location of 0.50 to place the edge in the center of the face then use Edit Form or other commands to move the edge. In exact mode, this minimized the number of faces created. In simple mode, this minimizes the change in the shape of the body.
