T points
- T points allow greater control and detail in some areas of the model
- They are G2 (curvature) continuous
Use T points to reduce number of edges

Simplify surface using T points

Star points
- Star points allow non-rectangular shapes
- 3, 5, or more faces meet in a star point
- Only G1 (tangent) continuity
Star points should not be placed near T points
- A rule is that T points and star points have to be at least 3 edges away from one another
- If not, SpeedForm will automatically extend the edge beyond the T point until the rule is fulfilled

Extended edge at T point deforms the white edge

No star point, no extension at T point – the white edge is evenly curved
Use as few star points as possible

The shape is built with 14 star points

Reflections are not smooth
Solution

Only 6 star points, in a small and fairly flat area

Improved reflections
