Problem Description

This tutorial uses the results simulation run in the Radial Comb Motor Electrostatic Analysis tutorial. If you did not complete this tutorial, use the Radial Comb Results.ach archive file in your tutorial models folder.
Create a new design scenario for the stress analysis, preserving the electrostatic analysis setup and results.
The beam element part that you deactivated for the prior tutorial must be activated for this one. This part provides the rotor mounting.
You must deactivate the air part that was active for the prior tutorial. The air is not considered for the structural stress analysis.
Both comb parts and the beam element part have a modulus of elasticity of 16,960 dyn/µ² (24.5 * 10⁶ psi) and a Poisson's ratio of 0.22.
Note: A custom unit system has already been defined, so you will enter the material properties in units of dyn/µ². The results are produced using the same units.
The beam element is a solid round cross section with a radius of 2 µ.
Apply a fixed constraint to the ring-shaped back surface of the static comb (Stator).
To the back node (+Y end) of the axial beam at the center of the rotating comb (Rotor), apply a pinned general constraint and also a Y-rotation 1D spring support with a stiffness of 0.35 dyn·µ/radian.
To the front node (-Y end) of the axial beam at the center of the Rotor, apply a Tx and Tz general constraint.
Apply the Coulomb forces that were calculated in the Radial Comb Motor Electrostatic Analysis tutorial.
