Prepare a Model for Design

Decide which method of calculating internal forces to use and ensure the model fulfills design requirements for this method.

Rozszerzenie Projekt belki kompozytowej requires that the Robot model fulfills a list of design requirements. These requirements also depend on a method of calculating internal forces you select in Composite Settings. However, a good practice is to decide beforehand which method to use and ensure the model fulfills the requirements of this method, before you open the extension.

The extension lets you select one of the following methods of calculating internal forces:

• Internal Engine

  A default method recommended for all users. In a simplified way, the extension estimates an influence surface on a slab and assigns loads from this surface to the beam supporting this slab.

• Robot Structural Analysis

  Recommended for advanced users. The extension imports internal forces from the Robot model. If you select this method, the model must fulfill a different set of design requirements than those for the internal engine method.

In Robot, to prepare a model for design, follow these steps:

1. Decide which method of calculating internal forces to use: Internal Engine or Robot Structural Analysis.
2. Ensure the model fulfills design requirements for the selected method:
   • Design requirements for the Internal Engine method
   • Design requirements for the Robot Structural Analysis method
3. If you made changes to the model, click Analysis > Calculations to perform static calculations of the model.
