Assigning a Hinge to Structure Bars

After selecting a non-linear hinge type, it can be assigned to structure bars as follows:

1. Select structure bars in which a non-linear hinge is to be defined using either method:
   • Enter the bar numbers in the Current selection field.
   • Graphically select the list of bars. The object numbers are automatically entered in the Current selection field.
2. Determine the coordinate of the hinge location on a bar.
3. Click Apply.

Note: When using the previous method for defining hinges, the x coordinate is calculated from the beginning of the bar.

Another way of assigning a hinge, is to select the hinge type and in the drawing area, select the successive bars on which the hinge is to be assigned. The x coordinate determines where the hinge is applied to the bar.

Note: If you use this method to assign a hinge to a structure bar, the x coordinate is calculated from the beginning to the end of the bar depending on where you clicked the mouse on the bar. On the bar, arrows that determine the direction for incrementing a bar length coordinate display.
