Exporting FBX Files for Games

Use the Game Exporter utility to efficiently export your game models and animations clips in FBX file format.

Procedures

To export game models as an FBX file:

  1. Open the Game Exporter.
  2. Select the Model tab.
  3. From the Export Set list, select what you want to export.
  4. Select the Geometry, Miscellaneous, and Coordinate System and Media settings.
  5. To access a complete list of export settings in the FBX Export dialog, click Advanced Settings.
    Note: Any changes made in the FBX Export dialog will sync with the Game Exporter.
  6. To view the file after export, select View file in FBX Review after export in the Path group.
  7. In the Path group, select where the file exports and nomenclature.
  8. Click Export.

To export game animations as an FBX file:

  1. Open the Game Exporter.
  2. Select the Animation Clips tab.
  3. From the Export Set list, select what you want to export.
  4. In the Animation Clips group, click Add New Clip.
  5. Enter a clip name and define the Start and End frames.
  6. To preview the animation, click Play.
    Note: You can change the clip length you are previewing by updating the Start and End frames and clicking Set Playback Range to Clip.
  7. Repeat steps 5-7 to enter as many animation clips as desired.
  8. Select the animation clips you want to export by selecting Toggle Export of this Clip.
  9. Select the Clip Settings and Coordinate System and Media settings.
  10. To access a complete list of export settings in the FBX Export dialog, click Advanced Settings.
    Note: Any changes made in the FBX Export dialog will sync with the Game Exporter.
  11. To view the file after export, select View file in FBX Review after export in the Path group.
  12. In the Path Group, select where the file exports and nomenclature.
  13. Click Export.
