Export to Civil View for 3ds Max Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to select AutoCAD Civil 3D data to export to a file you can import into 3ds Max.

Object View and Selection

The left pane of the Export to Civil View for 3ds Max dialog box contains a hierarchical view of the contents of the AutoCAD Civil 3D model in the current drawing.

This hierarchical view allows individual portions of the current AutoCAD Civil 3D model to be selected for export.

Parts of the AutoCAD Civil 3D model which are flagged by AutoCAD Civil 3D as being out of date cannot be exported until such objects have been updated/rebuilt.

Note: Corridor references cannot be used with the Export to 3ds Max command. Instead, use the Export to 3ds Max command from the corridor source drawing.

Corridor Options

Link Code Filter

A link code filter allows the exported version of all AutoCAD Civil 3D corridor geometry to be filtered based on a specified link code.

This is normally set to "Top" to cause only feature lines and surfaces representing the top surface of each corridor to be exported for visualization purposes.

It is also possible to use the filter "Datum" to export only the lower surface of each corridor. However, any link code may be entered into this field.

Material Options

Material Options List

The right pane of the Export to Civil View for 3ds Max dialog box contains the contents of the current VSPCFG configuration file.

The VSPCFG file is used to determine how the contents of the AutoCAD Civil 3D model should be interpreted by 3ds Max. This configuration file is used primarily to determine the way in which subassembly classes, link codes, surface names, and render texture names are automatically mapped to materials.

If necessary, differing VSPCFG files may be created which relate to the requirements of each project.

The use of a VSPCFG file completely automates the process of assigning Civil View materials to AutoCAD Civil 3D geometry for visualization purposes.
