Export to Civil View for 3ds Max provides a streamlined method for exporting civil design data for use in Autodesk 3ds Max.
The files you export may be dynamically linked to a Civil View based visualization. Civil View can react to changes in a referenced AutoCAD Civil 3D model when the linked VSP3D file is updated from AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- The hierarchy of AutoCAD Civil 3D corridors is retained in Civil View. Baselines, regions, surfaces, subassemblies, and feature lines can all be identified by name permanently within the Civil View visualization environment.
- Exported corridor surface data may be filtered by link code (usually "top"). This allows you to exclude unnecessary sub-surface geometry from a visualization scene.
- Exported surface data is optimized to ensure that commonly placed vertices are shared by adjacent faces/triangles instead of the traditional need for three independent vertices for every face/triangle in the surface. This can often reduce the number of vertices in a surface by a factor of 5 with no reduction in the accuracy or geometric shape of a surface.
- Alignment-aware texture mapping techniques provide control over the way in which each individual subassembly or link is automatically textured in Civil View and 3ds Max.
- In Civil View, objects such as street lamps, traffic signs, or trees may be associated with imported AutoCAD Civil 3D point groups, which makes it easy to place geometry at a series of defined points.
