About Sections
You can use sections to examine existing and proposed surface elevations sampled across an alignment at defined station intervals.
About Sample Line Objects
Use a sample line as a linear plan object representing the direction along which sections are cut for a set of specified surfaces.
About Section Objects
Use a section object to examine surfaces, corridor models, and pipe networks along a sample line (across an alignment). In AutoCAD Civil 3D, each section is an object.
About Corridor Sections
Use corridor sections to examine the assemblies that make up a corridor model, as well as the surrounding civil objects, such as surfaces and pipe networks.
About Positioning Sample Lines on a Corridor
Depending on the angle of the sample line relative to the parent baseline, a corridor section can be displayed in either of two ways.
About Section Object Relationships
Since sample line geometry controls where surfaces are sampled to create section objects, sample lines are the parent of the section object.
