To Fix Design Errors

Inventor identifies design errors and provides tools to correct them. Resolve design errors when they occur or later.

When Inventor detects design errors, it displays a message dialog listing the errors. The title of the dialog indicates the failed operation. You can fix design errors yourself or use the Design Doctor.

Fix Design Errors Later

  1. Click Accept at the bottom of the message dialog. The attempted operation appears in the browser with error or warning icons.

When you pause the cursor over the browser node, the feature displays in the graphics window in its last successful state.

  2. Later, right-click the error in the browser and select Recover to open the Design Doctor.

Roll Back History

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Find the End of Part (or End of Feature) symbol at the bottom of the browser, and drag it up to “roll back” the model.
    • Right-click a feature in the browser and select Move EOP Marker to move the EOP marker to that feature.

This temporarily removes the features below the EOP symbol from the model. This can be useful as you troubleshoot the model.

  2. To update the model, drag the symbol back to the bottom of the browser, or right-click the EOP marker and select Move EOP to End.

Enable More Constraint Analysis for Assemblies(not available in Inventor LT)

  1. Click Tools tab Options panel Application Options.
  2. On the Assembly tab, turn on Enable Related Constraint Failure Analysis. To witness groups of constraints that are in a failure set, activate Enable Related Relationship Failure.
