To Change Document Settings

Apply parameters for behavior and appearance to documents.

The document type determines the tabs available in the dialog.

  1. On the ribbon Tools tab Options panel click Document Settings.
  2. In the Document Settings dialog box, click a tab:
    • Units. Set units of measurement for a part or, if you have Inventor, an assembly file.
    • Sketch. Set snap spacing, grid spacing, lineweight display options, and other sketch settings for a part or drawing.
    • Modeling. Set adaptivity or 3D snap spacing for an active part file. Set the Repair environment default error check. Size the graphics window on file open. The setting affects the view only on file creation. You can set it in your template file.
    • Drawing. Set the highlighting of invalid dimensions and other annotations in an active drawing file.
Note: With Inventor, you can select Specify the Memory Saving Mode. In Memory Saving Mode, you conservative more memory before, and during view computation by changing the way components load and unload. When selected, Inventor increases capacity and the time it takes to compute data.
    • Weldment (not available in Inventor LT). Set the standard for the active weldment assembly.
    • General. Set the lighting style and display appearance.
    • Display Appearance settings, General tab. Set parameters for edge display, visual style, various shadows, reflection, ground plane, and projection.
  3. Enter the settings.
  4. Click Apply to save the changes.
