You can use the Paint Texture Weights Tool to paint texture deformer weights.
You can also use the Mirror Deformer Weights Options to mirror the texture deformer weights. See Mirror deformer weights.
To paint weights on a texture
In the Paint Attributes Tool, the Paint Texture Weights Tool settings appear. See Paint Texture Weights Tool.
The Paint Texture Weights Tool automatically detects textures on the surface and selects one for painting.
You can use the default hotkey Alt+c (or Option+c on Mac OS X) to turn Color Feedback on and off outside the Paint Attributes Tool.
Note that you can only paint weights on one texture at a time. If you select more than one texture, you can only paint weights on the active one (the one that provides color feedback).
If the surface has only one texture, you can select the surface alone.
The selected texture turns white, representing a weight value of 1, the default.
If you are painting on a single surface, you can skip step 3 and select the texture without opening the Tool Settings window by right-clicking the surface and selecting the appropriate texture weights name from the Paint command submenu.
If you are painting the picked weight on another texture, select that texture, then drag the brush across it.
