Assigning the compression surface property (3D)

For a compression type analysis on a 3D model, you can specify the elements of your model that will be compressed by assigning them the compression surface property, as indicated below.

1. Click Select.
2. Select all the elements of the model.
3. Click (Mesh tab > Properties panel > Assign).
4. In the Assign Property dialog, if the compression element you want has already been defined, select it, then click OK. Otherwise, click New > Compression element (3D).
5. In the Compression element (3D) dialog, select the appropriate Part Surface Property settings, then click the Compression surface properties tab.
6. In the Compression surface properties tab, decide whether you want the code to determine the moving and fixed elements, or if you need to specify them yourself.
7. Type a name in the Name box that describes the properties you have defined, then click OK.
8. Ensure that your new property is selected in the Assign Property dialog, then click OK.
