Moldflow Rotational Diffusion (MRD) Model

The Moldflow Rotational Diffusion (MRD) model improves the prediction of the fiber orientation in 3D.

The MRD model is a modification of the ARD model, in which the diffusive contribution to the ARD model has been altered and the kinematic part (the hydrodynamic contribution) has remained intact.

The model is characterized by four parameters:

  1. Ci
  2. D1
  3. D2
  4. D3

Fiber interaction coefficient Ci corresponds to the magnitude of the rotational diffusion

The coefficients of asymmetry D1, D2 and D3 show how the rotational diffusion is biased towards the direction of the principal vectors of fiber orientation tensor.

The higher the value of the corresponding D coefficient, the more the rotational diffusion is biased in the direction of the corresponding principal vector.
Note: The default values for the Di coefficients are D1=1.0, D2=0.8, D3=0.15.
