Throughput result

The Throughput result shows the total volume of material that passed through each beam element (runner system) connected directly to the injection node(s).

This result is generated from a Fill analysis for the following mesh types:
Note: The Throughput result
  • is available for both the 1st and 2nd shots of a two shot overmolding analysis.
  • is also available for Cool(FEM) analyses, but only if flow iteration is enabled.
  • shows flow to a single cavity, when occurrence numbers have been applied.
  • is plotted as an elemental (beam) result.
  • is not plotted on unfilled elements.

Using this result

The Throughput result is primarily used to check for balanced flow for a multi-gated or multi-cavity design.

The Throughput result will show you the volume of material that has passed through each beam element in the runner system connected directly to the injection nodes. The volume should be largest at the sprue and smallest at the gate. This result is written once, at the end of the analysis.

There are no Throughput results for triangular elements. Generally, there should be a similar volume of material passing through each gate of a multi-gated part.
