Process controller for overmolding second component dialog-Temperature Control tab

The Temperature Control tab of the Process controller for overmolding second component dialog is used to specify default values for temperature control related inputs of the second component stage of an overmolding analysis.

General settings

Melt temperature
The temperature of the molten plastic, or melt, as it starts to flow into the cavity.

In cases where this is an input box, enter the required melt temperature.

Note:
  • If the model has a runner system, the melt temperature refers to the temperature of the melt as it enters the runner system. If the model does not have a runner system, the melt temperature is the temperature of the melt as it exits the gate(s).
  • The melt temperature cannot be lower than the Transition temperature.
Ambient temperature
The ambient temperature should be set to the average ambient temperature at the site where the injection molding occurs.

The default value for ambient temperature is 25°C (77°F).

You can change this value to match the ambient temperature at your site. The new value will be used throughout the analysis sequence. The program uses the ambient temperature value to calculate a nominal stroke volume by multiplying the cavity volume by the ratio of the material density at the ambient temperature to the density at melt temperature.
