The cavity weight (overmolding) result shows the calculated weight of the overmolded component in the mold.
This result is generated from a thermoplastics overmolding process for the following mesh types:
Midplane
Dual Domain
and for analysis sequences that include:
Using this result
The cavity weight (overmolding) result is written even when there is only one cavity in the model. It is plotted on the triangular overmolded part element or part beam and excludes the feed system.
This result is a time series result, written at several time steps, so you can also create an XY plot over time.

Things to look for
- Every part in a multi-cavity mold containing identical overmolded parts should have the same weight. Differences show that some overmolded components are not filling; check the runner system.
- Check the weight of each overmolded component in the mold and compare against the expected weight. Consider changing the material, or changing the design, if the result differs from expectation.
