Animating a result

The Animation toolbar includes several options you can use to animate results.

To open the results tab, click Results, Home tab (Results tab > Results panel > Results)

Click one of the following buttons to display the selected result in the required way.

For some results plots, you can choose what to animate; for example: animate over time or over a single dataset. Results displayed over a single dataset are animated through the unit of that result. For example, the Pressure at V/P switchover result is animated through the pressure values in the specified unit system (if Metric units are specified, pressure values are displayed in MPa).

Overlaid XY plots
You can overlay a result plot with an XY plot and if the unit of the axis of the original plot is the same as the unit of the animation variable of the overlaid plot (e.g., Fill Time and Clamp Force XY Plot), they can be animated together. The animation variable range and step length are determined by the overlaid plot, and the range can be adjusted by modifying the property of the overlaid plot. If the length of the overlaid is shorter than that of the original plot increase the length of the overlaid plot.
To increase the length of the plot, click (Results tab > Properties panel > Plot Properties).
  • If the overlaid plot is a result plot, select the Animation tab and extend the Animate result over range.
  • If the overlaid plot is an XY plot, select the XY Plot Properties (2) tab and change the X range.
  1. Right-click on the selected plot in the Study Tasks pane.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Select your preferred option from the Animate result over drop-down list.
Note: Certain plots have only one option available.

The number of frames can be increased or decreased; for example, increase the number of frames to smoothen out a jerky animation.

To change the number of frames used in the animation, edit the plot properties.

Tip: You can drag the slider or use the arrow keys to step the animation forward or back.
