Second principal tensile stress/strain curve data dialog

This dialog is used to input the stress/strain characteristics of the material in the second principal direction. This data, if present, is used for a Stress Creep analysis.

To access this dialog, you must have selected a reactive molding process, with a thermoset material. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Process Settings), and click Next until you find a page with the Advanced options button. Click Advanced options, then click Edit associated with Molding material. Select the Mechanical Properties tab, check Single set of stress-strain curves, and click the Edit stress-strain data button. Check Different second principal properties (tranversely isotropic), and click the Edit stress-strain data button.

Widget Explanation
Second principal (or isotropic) tensile stress-strain curve
  • Curve type
  • Failure strain

Curve type

If you have a large number of datapoints, select the multi-linear option.
  • Multi-linear
  • Curvilinear with slope continuity at the elastic limit
  • Curvilinear without slope continuityat the elastic limit

Failure strain

Enter a number between 1 and 5.

Tensile stress-strain curve data (2nd principal direction) Enter data for the 2nd principal direction. You will have acquired this information from experimental data.
Different compression properties Check this box if you have compression data in the first and second principal directions.

Edit stress-strain data

This button only appears if you have selected Different compression properties

Click this button to enter the second principal tensile stress-strain curve data.
