Setting a 3D Cool (FEM) analysis in Gas-assisted injection molding

To set a 3D Cool (FEM) analysis in gas-assisted injection molding select an Analysis Sequence including Cool (FEM). Next, select the solver that works with the Analysis Sequence.

  1. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel) and select Gas-assisted Injection Molding analysis for your 3D model.
  2. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Analysis Sequence). Set one of the following Analysis Sequences including Cool (FEM):
    • Cool (FEM)
    • Cool (FEM) + Fill
    • Cool (FEM) + Fill + Pack
    • Cool (FEM) + Fill + Pack + Warp
    • Fill + Pack + Cool (FEM) + Fill + Pack
    • Fill + Pack + Cool (FEM) + Fill + Pack + Warp.
  3. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Process Settings) and click Cool (FEM) Solver Parameters.

If you set an Analysis Sequence having Cool (FEM) in the middle of the sequence, click Next and then Cool (FEM) Solver Parameters.

  4. In the Cool (FEM) Solver Parameters dialog, under Cycle averaged, part heat flux calculation, select the solver:
    • For the analysis sequence starting with Cool (FEM), select Flow analysis on every iteration.
    • For the sequences having Cool (FEM) in the middle of the sequence, select Conduction solver.
