Filters

Filters help you select a required model or mesh entity by automatically snapping to the nearest instance of the selected model or mesh entity when you click in the Model Display pane.

Filters are available from a drop-down list in the following tools:

  • Create nodes tool
  • Create curves tool
  • Create regions tool
  • Create holes tool
  • Create beams tool
  • Move/Copy tools
  • Nodal mesh tools
  • Edge mesh tools
  • Global mesh tools
  • Set constraints
  • Set loads

Although the following filters exist, a different subset of these filters is available for each tool.

Filter Description
Any item

After selecting this mode, you can click anywhere in the Model View pane, including locations which are not on the part.

Modeling plane

After selecting this mode, you can click anywhere in the Model View pane, or on the active modeling plane to create nodes or curves.

Node

Click on a node to select it.

Nearest Node

When you click on the model, the nearest node is selected for you.

Curve

When you click on the model, the nearest curve is selected for you.

Center of arc

When you click on an arc, the center coordinate of the circle described by the arc is selected for you.

End of curve

When you click on a curve, the point at the nearest end of the curve is selected for you. This option is useful if, for example, you are using Connect Curves (Geometry tab > Create panel > Curves > Connect Curves), and it is important that you select one end of the curve rather than the other end.

Middle of curve

When you click on a curve, the middle point of the curve is selected for you.

Point on curve

When you click on a curve, the closest coordinate on the curve is selected for you.

Region

This filter is only available if you are creating holes. When you click on the model, only regions are identified for you to select.

Triangle

When you select this filter, then click on the model or select an area, only the triangles are selected for manipulation.

Surface

When you select this filter, then click on the model, only surfaces are selected for manipulation.
