Use the Merge Nodes command to merge one or more nodes to a single node. The Merge command acts only on the nodes that you specify, whereas the Global Merge command searches the entire mesh and merges all nodes within the specified distance from each other.
To access this panel, click
().
In the Input parameters section of the dialog, select the nodes you want to merge and the node you would like to merge them to.
Decide whether you want merge nodes along an element edge only.
In the Selection option section of the dialog, indicate whether you would like to use filtering and if so, the type of filtering.
Note: Many of the mesh repair tools involve selecting or manipulating nodes. Ensure that the nodes in the part are visible and selectable by activating the required layers in the Layers pane.
Dialog elements
- Nodes to merge to
- Specifies the node into which you want to merge one or more other nodes.
- Nodes to merge from
- Specifies the node(s) that you want to merge into the single node specified in the Node to merge to box above.
Select the node(s) to be merged.
- Merge nodes along an element edge only
- If this option is selected, nodes will be merged if:
- they are connected to the same element type and they form an element edge, OR
- they are not connected to the same element type (for example, one node is connected to triangular elements only and another to beam elements only).
This option should not be selected when using the Global Merge tool to fix free edges.
- Automatic apply when selection complete
- When this checkbox is activated, the selected tool is applied automatically to the chosen mesh elements whenever all inputs have been specified.
- Create as
- Allows you to simultaneously create a modeling entity and assign properties to it.
For example
- You can create a curve and assign runner properties to it.
- You can create a region and assign part surface properties to it.
In some cases you have the option to Create as modeling entity. No properties will be assigned. This option may be appropriate if, for example, you are creating curves to construct a region. You must assign properties to the region, but you don't need to assign properties to the curves.
Tip: To change the properties of an entity, click Change.
- Filter
- The filter helps you select a desired model or mesh entity. When you use a filter, the pointer will snap to the specified entity.
