Use the
Degenerate Elements page to improve the quality of mesh elements by moving or merging nodes.
There are two types of
degenerate elements that the Mesh Repair Wizard fixes:
- elements that have two or three nodes very close together (fixed by merging the nodes)
- elements that have one node very close to an opposite edge (fixed by moving the node into the middle of the opposite edge).
You can select the default tolerance shown on the panel (based on the global edge length internally), or specify an alternate tolerance value.
Dialog elements
- Tolerance
- Specifies the minimum height for triangles that are too small for a good mesh. Triangles with a height smaller than the minimum value are removed, and the mesh is regenerated in the area surrounding the removed triangles.
Enter the required value in the
Specify box for the minimum height of triangles you want to remove.
- Show diagnostics
- Displays a graphical representation of the diagnostics results.
- Show model
- Displays the model only (with no diagnostics).
Tip: Select the Show model check box, and then toggle the Show diagnostics check box on and off for a good indication of what the Mesh Repair Wizard is reporting.
Note: If you close the Mesh Repair Wizard with the
Show model check box deselected, the model will not be visible. To make the model visible again, click

().
